4. Pamir Highway, M41, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan

5 päivää / 732 km / 11 tuntia ja 31 minuuttia

The Pamir Highway (M41) is one of the world’s most remote and demanding high-altitude routes, crossing the Pamir Mountains between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. It reaches its highest point at Ak-Baital Pass at 4,655 meters and remains above 3,500 meters for long stretches, passing through isolated settlements such as Murghab and Karakul before reaching the Kyzyl-Art border and descending toward Osh. With rough pavement, gravel, potholes, and unbridged stream crossings, the journey is challenging, but the extraordinary sense of isolation and vast, empty mountain landscapes are what make the route legendary among adventure travelers.
